1920: The Evil Returns- Movie Reviews

Critic's Rating:3/5
Cast: Aftab Shivdasani, Tia Bajpai, Vidya Malvade
Direction: Bhushan Patel
Genre: Horror
Duration: 2 hours 4 minutes
Story: A poet falls in love with a fan he has never seen. They eventually meet, but she is haunted by a demon. Will the two be able to live happily ever after?

Movie Review: Jaidev Varma (Aftab Shivdasani) is a poet who looks for a reason to live. He finds his inspiration in his fan Smriti ( Tia Bajpai). The two exchange letters and fall in love even without meeting each other. Destiny brings them together, but not the way they'd dreamt. Smriti is haunted by a demon.

1920: Evil Returns has enough and more in store to scare you. It's the perfect Halloween film you could watch if horror's your favourite genre.

Huge haunted mansions, creepy graveyards, unknown screams, shocking, sudden and mysterious appearances of characters, lonely roads, cold scary nights, dangerous forests, candles, violin and a country setting...1920has every ingredient that makes for a good horror film. Special mention should go to the background score and stunning cinematography, which makes the film even more effective.

The first half has a superb build-up. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. The latter half is a tad cliched and a lot like 1920 (2008), which is a bit disappointing. Girl talking in a man's voice, girl floating in the air mysteriously... everything post the demonic possession looks caricaturish, but the film keeps you engaged nevertheless.

Tia Bajpai acts very well and so does an understated Aftab Shivdasani. He delivers a mature performance. Vidya Malvade has no great role, but she is good at what has been given to her.
